SUMMARY:Ocean Swim\, Saturday\, October 11th @ 8 am\, in Huntington Beach
DESCRIPTION:LOCATION HERE\nYou’re invited to our ocean swim: meet at the tower off the intersection of PCH and Huntington Street. It’s on the beach by Jack’s Beachside Concession. If you see 3 medium-sized hotels from Tower 9\, you’re in the right place. If you see smokestacks nearby\, you’re in the wrong place.\n Meet at 8 am and in the water by 8:10. Usually done by 9 am-ish\, depending on length of swim.\n*Our usual swim is 1\,200-2\,400 yards. That’s 2-5 Towers\, parallel to shore\, once we’re beyond the breakers.\nWe’ve been breaking up into 2 groups: slower/shorter and faster/longer.\nOr\, a combo Buoy and Tower Swim.\nCheck conditions through local cameras here: https://hbcams.com/\nCheck Surfline’s forecast here: https://www.surfline.com/surf-report/huntington-st-/58bdebbc82d034001252e3d2?view=table\nCheck Surf-forecast.com here: https://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Huntington-Beach/forecasts/latest/six_day\nSome caveats:\nMajor concern during the fall/winter is rain and/or fog. If it rains within 72 hours of the start of the swim\, assume the swim is cancelled. Also\, if it looks foggy from various cameras in HB\, assume the swim is cancelled.\nGenerally\, Surfline is more accurate with water temps than other sites\, but this varies daily. For Socal\, 60 F is generally the line of demarcation between comfortable and uncomfortable. This is also for some the break between wetsuit and trunking it. Whatever you choose is fine.\nMost recently\, early October\, the water temp has been between 63 F and 66 F.\nOh\, and the wave conditions have been influenced heavily by the wind and the swells. Some mornings it’s been choppy; others\, it’s been very calm.  Wind has been the greater creator of surface chop recently. \nKeep in mind that if there is a marine layer or wind\, it will feel a little cooler. \nIf you need fins to help you swim\, that’s cool. \nYou can wear fins for extra propulsion and confidence through the waves.\nWe’re fin-friendly. Some of us are triathletes\, some are swim runners\, some are training for lifeguard tryouts\, some are interested in cold-water immersion. Heck\, some of us are in it for fun\, fitness and friends.\nWhatever your motivation\, you’re welcome to join us so long as you can swim 300 yards continuously and can swim 1000 yards in one session. Even if you need fins to do so. As Tom said\, “Fins are the greatest swim hack ever!”

SUMMARY:Ocean Swim\, Saturday\, August 10th @ 8 am\, in Huntington Beach
DESCRIPTION:LOCATION HERE\nTHIS IS THE LAST WEEKEND OF THE US OPEN OF SURFING. EXPECT CROWDS\nYou’re invited to our ocean swim: meet at the tower off the intersection of PCH and Huntington Street. That’s 2-5 Towers\, parallel to shore\, once we’re beyond the breakers.\nOr\, a combo Buoy and Tower Swim.\nSome caveats:\nWater temp has been 60-64 F recently. Generally\, Surfline is more accurate with water temps than other sites\, but this varies daily. For Socal\, 60 F is generally the line of demarcation between comfortable and uncomfortable. This is also for some the break between wetsuit and trunking it. Whatever you choose\, is fine.\nOh\, and the wave conditions have been influenced heavily by the wind and the swells. Some mornings it’s been choppy; others\, it’s been very calm.  Wind has been the greater creator of surface chop recently. The swells are recently fighting between north and south. South is starting to win again. Summer is coming.\nKeep in mind that if there is a marine layer or wind\, it will feel a little cooler.

SUMMARY:Ocean Swim\, Saturday\, May 18th @ 8 am\, Tower 9 in Huntington Beach
DESCRIPTION:*Will be canceled if it rains between Wednesday morning and Saturday morning.*\nLOCATION HERE\nYou’re invited to our ocean swim: meet at the tower off the intersection of PCH and Huntington Street. It’s on the beach by Jack’s Beachside Concession. If you see 3 medium-sized hotels from Tower 9\, you’re in the right place. If you see smokestacks nearby\, you’re in the wrong place.\n Meet at 8 am and in the water by 8:10. Usually done by 9 am-ish\, depending on length of swim.\n*Our usual swim is 1\,200-1\,600 yards. That’s 2-3 Towers\, parallel to shore\, once we’re beyond the breakers.\nSome caveats:\nWater temp has been 54-56 F recently. Generally\, Surfline is more accurate with water temps than other sites\, but this varies daily.\nOh\, and the wave conditions have been influenced heavily by the wind and the swells. Some mornings it’s been choppy; others\, it’s been very calm.  Wind has been the greater creator of surface chop recently. The swells are recently fighting between north and south.
