SUMMARY:HB Tower 9 Swim\, Saturday\, September 11th at 7:45 AM
DESCRIPTION:You know the drill: meet at Tower 9 at 7:45 am. We’ll discuss conditions\, pair up and then enter the water ~8 am. \nWe’re doing buoy swims so long as conditions permit. Basically\, we start from Tower 9\, swim ~500 yards to the buoy out there\, and return. If you want\, some of us will do it twice\, so you can choose how many yards you do. \nMost swimmers will take 12-24 minutes per buoy trip. The advantage is that it will replicate what you’ll encounter in a triathlon or open water swim. \nAll levels welcome. Most of us average 1:35-2:20/100m. \nP.S. Water temp has fluctuated recently. Most recently\, ~ 60 F. But\, assume it’s about 60-64 F and you’ll be fine. Air temp\, sun\, winds\, and humidity can also make it feel warmer/colder. \nWave height has been 2-3 ft recently\, easily manageable. We’ll talk you through shuffling\, duck-diving\, and bobbing. \nIf you’re unaccustomed to the cold\, bring a hot beverage in a thermos to Tower 9 (not your car). You’ll want to sip it about 2-4 minutes after exiting the water to offset the afterdrop. \nWe hope to see you there!

DESCRIPTION:You know the drill. We swim out from Tower 9 beyond the breakers\, then swim parallel to shore. After we reach 2 or 3 towers\, we return on the same route. \nWater might be back down to low 60s. You should be fine with a neoprene cap and possibly gloves. \nWe’re considering allowing ourselves a few minutes to acclimate before starting to swim. \nHope to see you there!

SUMMARY:HB Tower 9 Swim\, Saturday\, August 14th at 8 AM
DESCRIPTION:You know the drill. We swim out from Tower 9 beyond the breakers\, then swim parallel to shore. After we reach 2 or 3 towers\, we return on the same route. \nWater might be back down to low 60s. You should be fine with a neoprene cap and possibly gloves. \nWe’re considering allowing ourselves a few minutes to acclimate before starting to swim. \nHope to see you there!

SUMMARY:HB Tower 9 Swim\, Tuesday\, August 3rd at 7:30 AM
DESCRIPTION:Water Temp dropped to 61 F recently. Prepare accordingly! \n \nYou know the drill: meet at Tower 9 at 7:30 am. We’ll discuss conditions\, pair up and then enter the water ~7:40am. \nAs swells are strong\, mostly from the south\, we’ll swim according to time. We’ll agree on a length of time beforehand. For example\, if it’s 40 minutes\, we’ll swim ~30 minutes against the current and then ~10 minutes with the current. I do apologize for sounding like an algebra problem. \nAll levels welcome. Most of us average 1:45-2:20/100m. But\, since the current is so strong\, your smartwatch will be stupefied by your yardage\, or lack thereof.

SUMMARY:HB Tower 9 Swim\, Sunday\, July 11th at **8 AM** (weekend time)
DESCRIPTION:You know the drill: meet at Tower 9 at 8:00 am (weekend start time). We’ll discuss conditions\, pair up and then enter the water ~7:40am. \nAs swells are mostly from the south\, we’ll swim according to time. We’ll agree on a length of time beforehand. Usually\, it’s 35-50 minutes. \nWater has been warming up\, about 68 F the past 10 days. \nIf you’re afraid of the waves\, bring fins. We’re not the swim police and the fins will give you the boost you need to power through the waves on the way out and back. \nAll levels welcome. Most of us average 1:45-2:20/100m. \nFYI: We swim out past the breakers\, then regroup (about 150-250 yards). Then\, we swim to the midpoint\, regroup. Lastly\, we regroup before heading back to shore. The bulk of the swim is parallel to shore. Against the current at first and then with the current. If I told you the time differences between against/with current\, you probably wouldn’t believe me. Or thought I was a shill for algebra word problems. \nLet’s get in there! We want to see you have fun in the water!
