SUMMARY:Ocean Swim\, Saturday\, July 15 @ 8 am\, Tower 9 in Huntington Beach
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to our ocean swim: meet at (Huntington Beach City) Tower 9 off PCH & Huntington Street. Meet at 8 am and in the water by 8:10. Usually done by 9 am-ish\, depending on length of swim.\nJust be sure you can swim 300 yards continuously and can swim 1000 yards in one session at a 2:30/ 100 yard pace or better. That would be equivalent to a 25 minute 1\,000 yard swim. Even if you need fins to do so\, it’s cool. As Tom said\, “Fins are the greatest swim hack ever!”\nBut\, if you cannot keep up with the pace\, you will be left alone. Keep that in mind.\n*If the group is large enough\, we will break up into two groups: Longer/Faster (1\,600-2\,400 yards) and Slower/Shorter (1\,200-1\,600 yards)\nSome caveats:\nWater temp has fluctuated recently and is finally warming up!! It has been 59-64 recently. Generally\, Surfline is more accurate with water temps\, but this varies daily.\nOh\, and the wave conditions have been influenced heavily by the wind and the swells. Some mornings it’s been choppy; others\, it’s been very calm.  Wind has been the greater creator of surface chop recently. Recently\, the north swell and south swell have been close to equilibrium.\nKeep in mind that if there is a marine layer\, it will make it feel a little cooler. \nCome join us for good conditions! If it’s sunny\, it should be great!\nOne Note: \nWe can escort you through the waves if you need help. Open Water Swimming can be daunting to novices.\nWater might feel a little cool/cold to the uninitiated. For the love of God\, please pack a hot beverage. Bring it all the way to Tower 9 so you can drink it within 1 minute of exiting the water. This is more important to your core body temperature than drying off. But\, definitely dry off once you’ve taken in some hot fluids. Mild hypothermia is no joke. Stumbling\, Mumbling\, Fumbling\, and Bumbling is cool in cartoons\, but sucks in real life.\nWe look forward to seeing you there!\nP.S. If you need fins to help you swim\, that’s cool. \nYou can wear fins for extra propulsion and confidence through the waves.\nWe’re fin-friendly. Some of us are triathletes\, some are swim runners\, some are training for lifeguard tryouts\, some are interested in cold-water immersion. Whatever your motivation\, you are welcome.

DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to our ocean swim: meet at (Huntington Beach City) Tower 9 off PCH & Huntington Street. Meet at 8:00am and in the water by 8:10am. Usually done by 8:45 to 9 am-ish\, depending on length of swim.\n*Once the group is large enough\, we will break up into two groups: Longer/Faster (1\,600-2\,400 yards) and Slower/Shorter (1\,200-1\,600 yards)\nSome caveats:\nWater temp has fluctuated recently and is finally warming up!! It was 61F about a week ago. Heck\, some of us are in it for fun\, fitness and friends.\nWhatever your motivation\, you’re welcome to join us so long as you can swim 300 yards continuously and can swim 1000 yards in one session. Even if you need fins to do so. As Tom said\, “Fins are the greatest swim hack ever!”

If you do need fins to help you swim\, that’s cool. \nYou can wear fins for extra propulsion and confidence through the waves.\nWe’re fin-friendly. Some of us are triathletes\, some are swim runners\, some are training for lifeguard tryouts\, some are interested in cold-water immersion. Heck\, some of us are in it for fun\, fitness and friends.\nWhatever your motivation\, you’re welcome to join us so long as you can swim 300 yards continuously.

SUMMARY:Ocean Swim\, Saturday\, January 14th at 8 am CANCELLED*
DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED due to high chance of rain.\nYou’re invited to our ocean swim: meet at (Huntington Beach City) Tower 9 off PCH & Huntington Street. Meet at 8:00am and in the water by 8:10am. Usually done by 8:45ish\, depending on length of swim.\n*There will likely be two groups: Longer/Faster (1\,400-2\,200 yards) and Slower/Shorter (1\,000-1\,400 yards)\nSome caveats:\nWater temp has fluctuated recently and is generally becoming colder. It was 55 F Saturday\, December 17th; 57 F Saturday\, December 24th. Generally\, Surfline is more accurate with water temps\, while MagicSeaWeed seems to be more accurate about wave height. This varies daily.\nOh\, and the wave conditions have been influenced heavily by the wind and the swells. If it’s sunny\, it should be great!\nOne Note: \nWe can escort you through the waves if you need help.\nWater might feel a little cool/cold to the uninitiated.
