Ocean Swim, Thursday, August 11th at HB Tower 9 (City Beach) at 7 am

You’re invited to our ocean swim: meet at (Huntington Beach City) Tower 9 off PCH & Huntington Street. Meet at 7:00am and in the water by 7:10am. Usually done by 7:45ish, depending on length of swim.

Conditions have been good recently, but some caveats:

Water temp has fluctuated wildly. It’s been as low as 59 a few times in late July and early August and as high as 69 in late July. This past Sunday (August 7th), it was ~60 F.

Oh, and the wave conditions have been influenced heavily by the wind and the swells. Some mornings it’s been choppy, others, it’s been great.

Keep in mind that if there is a marine layer, it will make it feel a little cooler.

Come join us for good conditions! If it’s sunny, should be great!

You can wear fins for extra propulsion and confidence through the waves.

We can escort you through the waves if you need help.

Recently, we’ve been swimming ~1,500 yards. If there are enough swimmers, we can break into 2 groups, with one swimming ~1,500 yards and the other 2,000-2,500 yards.

Water might feel a little cool to the uninitiated. So, pack a hot beverage to drink immediately upon exiting the water (not your car). This is more important than drying off. But, definitely dry off once you’ve taken in some hot fluids. At a water temperature of 60+, you should be fine with even tepid fluids.
